There’s nothing better than your house smelling delicious, especially around the holidays. Unfortunately, many candles on the market today contain ingredients that are not good for your family to inhale such as synthetic fragrances, harsh chemicals and even lead based wicks! This non-toxic DIY crockpot potpourri is the perfect solution for keeping your house smelling festive without the unwanted exposure to chemicals.

Once the potpourri is made, you can let it simmer for hours without having to closely monitor it. Yet another perk of using a crockpot instead of candles! I usually set mine on the 4 or 6 hour timer so it turns off automatically.

You can keep adding to the mixture for weeks (I usually keep mine going for about 3 weeks before I dump it and start a new batch). It keeps for such a long time (it won’t be as pretty as day 1, as all of the spices turn the liquid brown, but it does not “go bad” for several weeks. Every few days I’ll add more liquid as it cooks down and sometimes a few extra spices for a refresher.
