When my daughter started talking about her birthday, she had one request: a Christmas-themed birthday party! Never mind that her birthday is in June, she was determined to celebrate Christmas anyway! So, we embraced the idea and brought a little holiday magic to summer with festive decorations, Christmas-inspired treats, and plenty of merry details. It turned out to be one of the most fun and unique parties we’ve ever planned. If you’re looking for some Christmas birthday party ideas (or just a Christmas party in general!) I’m sharing all the details on how to throw the perfect Christmas in June birthday party!

Balloons

We hosted Dottie’s Christmas in June birthday party at home, and the balloon installations completely transformed the space! We created a festive balloon display over the cookie decorating station and had some that looked just like Christmas trees and gifts. They instantly made our home feel merry and bright, even in the middle of summer.
The balloons were created by Balloons by Sarah, and they absolutely brought Dottie’s vision to life. If you’re local to North Georgia, I can’t recommend them enough. They handle the setup for you, and every event I’ve worked with them on has turned out beautifully. I also love that they are super creative and will help brainstorm ideas with you (these ballon trees and presents were all their idea)! It’s like having an event planner + balloon artist all in one, highly recommend!

Sweets

I love ordering personalized cookies for any events I am planning! The personalization is such a cute touch and really elevates the sweets table. These are from Julie Beans Bake Shop and she is my go-to for cookies like these. She can customize them to be any theme you want and they taste so good! Check out her Instagram @juliebeansbakeshop. To see more of her designs check out Dottie’s ballerina party here!

We ordered Dottie’s cake from Bees Knees Bakery and it tasted just as good as it looked!
Food

For the food, I kept things kid-friendly and easy to serve. The party was in the morning so we had a brunch theme; cinnamon rolls, mini quiches, and the a few snack trays filled with fresh fruit, cheese, and other grab-and-go favorites. t was the perfect mix of sweet and savory, and everything was easy for both kids and adults to enjoy while celebrating!
My favorite part was the strawberry and donut trees, they were fun to assemble and were a huge hit with the kids! I grabbed foam trees from the floral section of from Hobby Lobby and wrapped it in saran wrap. Then just pierce a toothpick in your donut or strawberry and stick it on the tree! I found it easier to start at the bottom and work your way up (tip- bring home more than you think you need, I ended up needing twice as many berries as I thought!)
Table and cookie decorating

The balloon garland over our cookie decorating table was the perfect centerpiece for the party! Sarah from Balloons by Sarah created the beautiful garland, and it made the whole setup feel so festive. Cookie decorating was the main activity for the party, so I wanted the table to feel extra special. @juliebeansbakeshop created these amazing cookie decoratating kits for all the girls!
To display the garland, I used balloon stand rods , which made it easy to create the look without attaching anything to the walls. The setup turned out beautifully and was a huge hit while everyone decorated their Christmas cookies together.
Party Favors

For party favors this year, our main activity was Christmas cookie decorating so I thought a fun way to tie the theme would be little containers of playdough paired with a festive cookie cutters. They were easy to put together, budget-friendly, and made the perfect take-home activity without any extra sugar.
Invitations

I found the sweetest invitations on Etsy, and they were the perfect way to set the tone for the party! Dottie absolutely loves The Nutcracker, so I was so excited when I came across this design. It fit our “Christmas in June” theme perfectly with its festive, whimsical details and gave guests a little preview of what was to come. I always love starting with a beautiful invitation because it helps tie the entire party theme together from the very beginning.
OUTDOORS

We used a bounce house from Athens Party Co, I love how clean and simple their bouncy castles are so the balloons really pop against the white! We’ve used them for almost every party we do and it always works so well with various themes. We also rented the adorable candy cart from them! I like putting the party favors on this and having it outside the front door so guests can a favor on their way out!
ENTERTAINMENT

We adore The Princess of Athens and have used her for many of our events! This time she came as an Elf on the Shelf and the little girls LOVED IT! She brought gifts for the birthday girl, glitter for the girls faces and even helped cut the cake and serve food. She can be almost any character you can think of, highly recommend if you’re local!
I’m so grateful to Julianne Rainwater for capturing all these amazing memories for us!! You can see more of her work on her instagram and check out her website here. I definitely recommend using a photographer for your party! You work so hard to plan and it’s such a relief to just relax and enjoy the day without stressing about having your phone or camera attached to you all day.
