It may be August, but with temps still in the 90s I’m still fully in summer mode! This Strawberry Mint Margarita is crisp and refreshing, perfect for those hot late summer afternoons!
You can use any type of tequila, but i prefer Altos. It’s 100% agave plant based and I find it doesn’t give me a headache like some other tequilas do. If you don’t have mint, this recipe is also delicious with fresh basil instead!
Don’t forget to thoroughly wash your strawberries, limes & mint before you begin! My go-to non-toxic produce wash is linked here.
Strawberry Mint Margarita
Ingredients
- 1 oz tequila I prefer Altos
- 1/2 oz Cointreau *
- 1 lime – juiced
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- handful mint leaves
- 1 oz soda water (optional)
Instructions
- thoroughly muddle mint and lime juice in a tall glass
- add strawberries and press with muddler until mostly crushed
- in a separate cocktail shaker, add ice and pour in tequila and cointreau- shake well
- pour in the lime/strawberry mixture and carefully stir (shaker will be very full)
- strain over glass of ice
- optional – top with soda water and stir
- garnish with extra berries & mint
