How to Throw an Art Themed Birthday Party

When my daughter Dottie asked for an art-themed birthday party this year, I knew we were in for a colorful, creative celebration, and figuring out how to throw an art themed birthday party quickly became my personal mission. We ended up hosting the party at a local Athens gem, Frog Stomp, and it couldn’t have been a better fit for her artsy vision!

One of the best parts about having it at Frog Stomp was how easy they made everything. They take care of the decorations, setup, and cleanup…which is every parent’s dream. All we had to do was show up, bring the cupcakes, and enjoy the fun! The space was bright, festive, and filled with so many thoughtful details that really brought the theme to life.

Decorations

The decorations in the cake room were so fun and whimsical! I simply told the team at Frog Stomp our theme, and they took it from there. From the colorful table setup to the creative art-themed details, everything felt thoughtfully put together and totally on brand for our little artist. I’ve linked some similar art-themed decor ideas below if you’re planning a party at home or want to add your own personal touch!

Sweets

For the sweets, we kept it simple and stress-free—I picked up white-frosted cupcakes from Publix and added our favorite dye-free sprinkles on top. It was such an easy way to tie them into the theme without any extra fuss, and they turned out adorable!

And of course, no party is complete without custom cookies from Julie Beans Bakeshop. Her cookies are always so cute, but what I really love is that not only are they adorable, but that they actually taste good too! Paper Details

I found the invitations, party favor tags, and welcome sign on Etsy and had them printed—and I absolutely loved the way they turned out! They pulled the whole theme together so perfectly and added such a fun, personalized touch to the party. Simple, cute, and stress-free… my favorite kind of detail!

party favors

For party favors, we put together these adorable mini art kits and they were a hit! Each bag included a tiny canvas and easel, a paintbrush, a paint palette, and a few paint pots so the kids could take the fun home with them. I tied each one up with a pink ribbon and added a custom tag that said, “Thank you for making my birthday party a masterpiece! Love, Dottie.”

They were colorful, creative, and totally on theme. Best of all, they are something the kids could actually use and enjoy later!

the Activity

Each child had their very own easel, paintbrushes, palette, and a personal canvas set up just for them. It was so fun to watch them dive into their creations and really make the space their own. The setup made every little artist feel special, and it kept everyone happily entertained from start to finish.

Even though we hosted the party at an art studio, this kind of setup would be super easy to recreate at home. With a few basic supplies and a little prep, you could turn your kitchen or backyard into a mini art studio for the day! I’m linking all the supplies you’d need to pull this off at home—so you can make your own masterpiece party with ease.

To wrap things up, here are a few more photos from the day! It was such a special day, and I’m so glad we were able to bring her vision to life in such a fun way. Hopefully this gives you some inspiration on how to throw an art themed birthday party of your own!
