How to make DIY "DON'T FORGET" Halloween Party Finger Invitations. What you'll need and how…
September 24, 2019
This day is finally here! I have been thinking about starting a blog for years now…
April 4, 2017Here’s what I wish I would’ve known before I invested in my at home sauna 👆🏻 write WANT for the links to all of my sauna essentials + you can get up to a $2,100 discount when you order a sunlighten sauna through my link☺️
Why infrared? Infrared saunas warm your body directly, rather than primarily heating the air around you. This allows you to experience the benefits of heat at lower temperatures than a traditional sauna. They can help to increase circulation, support muscle recovery, detox through sweating, and help improve sleep. A session also acts as a “passive” cardiovascular workout because it increases blood flow and temporarily raises your heart rate, similar to some effects of moderate exercise.
Investing in a sauna was a priority for me when we remodeled our bathroom last year when I was recovering from mold exposure. I’m so grateful to have this wellness ritual at home 🤍

Comment CANDY for the links! We let our kids enjoy Halloween candy, but I keep healthier alternatives at home so they can swap a majority of their candy at the end of the night! 🎃
Many conventional candies contain artificial food dyes, like Red 40, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6, which are petroleum derived synthetic color additives. Research has linked certain artificial colors to behavioral effects in children, and the FDA requires a warning on certain synthetic dyes in the EU because of potential effects on children. While these dyes are approved for use in the U.S., I personally prefer to limit them when easy alternatives exist.
I look for candy without unnecessary artificial additives (especially coloring) and with simpler ingredient lists. It’s been easy to make the simple swaps when such great alternatives exist! I’ve been excited about seeing more and more brands becoming focused on simple ingredients and fewer synthetic dyes 🙌🏻
Is this health food? No! They’re still candy. But they’re a simple way to make a more intentional choice without taking the fun out of Halloween. 🎃

This is the perfect syrup to add to coffee, pastries, or seasonal cocktails this fall, with no refined sugar! It’s not overly sweet but adds the perfect pumpkin spice flavor 🤌🏼 save this to reference later!
Pumpkin Spice Syrup 🤎
- 1/2 can of pumpkin puree
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp each of nutmeg, cloves, and ginger
* add all ingredients to a pot and bring to boil, constantly whisking. Allow to fully cool before transferring to a container. I like to store mine in a mason jar with a lid.
* note: this is an updated version of my pumpkin spice purée, which is a thicker consistency and great for spreading on cheese and crackers, toast or charcuterie! (full recipe is on my website)

Our kids are growing, learning and developing every day, and what they’re exposed to matters🤍
Making simple, nontoxic swaps can help reduce unnecessary exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and create a healthier environment for their little bodies. It’s not about perfection, just making better choices where we can!

Write SWAP for the info! 👉🏼 Let’s talk about microplastics in your coffee. ☕️
Many conventional coffee makers use plastic components in areas that come into contact with hot water, including water reservoirs, internal tubing, and brewing chambers. And if you use a single serve machine (like a Keurig) you’re also brewing with plastic pods that are exposed to hot water.
Research has found that these types of machines can release microplastics and other microscopic particles during brewing. While we’re still learning what different levels of exposure mean for long term health, but worth being mindful of what we consume every single day.
Coffee is a daily ritual for so many of us, which is exactly why I love looking for simple, realistic swaps that reduce unnecessary plastic exposure.
I recently found a coffee machine that uses zero plastic in the coffee brewing pathway, the water and coffee touch only stainless steel and borosilicate glass (never plastic or aluminum) preserving clean flavors and minimizing bitterness (and microplastics!!!) This the kind of everyday upgrade I get excited about! 💃☕️
I don’t want you to feel pressured to swap everything in your kitchen overnight! #LoTox is just about making more intentional choices when better alternatives are available. Is your coffee maker on its last leg and you’ve been looking at new options? Are you starting to put together your Christmas Wish list? Maybe you could consider this one whenever it’s time to replace your current one. That’s my motto, one in 👉🏼 one out.

We spend approximately 7 to 9 hours sleeping every night, which means our pajamas are in contact with our skin for a significant portion of our lives. So when it comes to choosing sleepwear, fabric matters!
Here’s what you need to know before your next pajama purchase:
1. Polyester and acrylic are plastic based fibers.
These synthetic materials are made primarily from petrochemicals. They can trap heat and moisture. Synthetic textiles can also shed microplastic fibers during washing and wear.
2. Cotton is a great place to start.
Cotton is a plant based, breathable fiber that absorbs moisture. If you’re making the switch, look for 100% cotton rather than cotton blended with polyester. GOTS certified organic cotton is the gold standard, but OEKO TEX certified is also good.
3. Modal is not always better.
Modal is made from regenerated cellulose, usually from beechwood. It isn’t a conventional petroleum based synthetic like polyester, and it can be soft and breathable. However, it requires industrial processing, and its environmental impact depends on how it’s manufactured. If your goal is to prioritize minimally processed natural fibers, cotton & linen are worth considering first.
4. Read the fabric content, not just the label.
A pajama set marketed as “bamboo,” “eco friendly,” or “natural” may actually be rayon or viscose made from plant cellulose through chemical processing. Check the fiber composition on the tag rather than relying on marketing language.
You don’t have to replace your entire wardrobe overnight. When it’s time to replace a worn out pair, try 100% cotton, linen, or another natural fiber instead of a polyester or acrylic blend. One in, one out!🤍

Have a Toniebox? Here’s how to reduce unnecessary EMF exposure!
We LOVE our @tonies.us (especially at bedtime) and love how easy they make it to turn the Wi-Fi off, but I feel like a lot of people don’t know this trick so I wanted to share❤️
TONIEBOX 1 (Original)
1. Make sure your Tonies’ stories are fully downloaded while connected to WiFi.
2. Remove the Tonie figure from the box.
3. Pinch and hold both ears for about 5 seconds until you hear a sound and the light flashes blue.
4. Pinch and hold either ear for about 3 seconds until the light turns white and you hear the offline mode confirmation.
5. You’re all set! Your Tonies will work normally without WiFi as long as their content has already been downloaded.
TONIEBOX 2 (Newer Model)
1. Make sure your Tonies’ stories are fully downloaded while connected to WiFi.
2. Remove any Tonies or Tonieplay games from the box.
3. Turn the Toniebox upside down and press and hold both ears until the light ring turns white.
4. Squeeze the big ear to activate offline mode. You’ll hear a voice confirmation.
5. You’re all set! Your Tonies will work normally without WiFi as long as their content has already been downloaded.
Save this for bedtime! 🤍 lmk if you try it!

6 Reasons to Shop at Your Local Farmers Market 🌿
1. Support local farmers and small businesses! Your dollars stay closer to home and help sustain the families + small businesses behind your food. Buying directly from farmers cuts out many middlemen, which can mean better prices and more money going straight to the people growing your food 🙌🏻
2. You can find great organic & sustainably grown produce. Be sure to ask your farmers about their growing practices, not everything is certified organic, but you can find out what they use and look for options with fewer synthetic pesticides. If you’re in Athens, we love @hickoryhillfarmga for organic produce 🥕 , @caribeunitedfarm for pasture raised eggs 🥚, and @hamnersfarm for grass-fed meat 🥩
3. It’s a GREAT activity for kids! I want them to know their food doesn’t just come from a grocery store shelf. I want them to see how it’s grown, meet the farmers who grow it, explore new fruits and vegetables, and understand what real food looks like before it ever makes it to their plate. The more opportunities we give our kids to interact with real food, the more we can help build familiarity, curiosity and a foundation for healthier habits.
4. Fresher, seasonal food. Produce is harvested closer to when it’s sold, meaning less time in transit and a chance to enjoy what’s naturally in season.
5. Know where your food comes from. You can talk directly to the person who grew it, ask how it was raised, and learn exactly what you’re bringing home to your family. I love that we have become friends with so many of our local farmers!
6. Real food nourishes your body🤍 Whole foods like fresh fruits and vegetables over ultra processed alternatives which means more nutrients & fewer additives in your family’s everyday diet.
if you’re not sure if you’re in town has a farmers market, Google your town + farmers market or type the same thing into your Instagram search bar, and you’ll be surprised how many options come up! Do you visit your farmers market? Let me know your favorite part!
