We spend approximately 7 to 9 hours sleeping every night, which means our pajamas are in contact with our skin for a significant portion of our lives. So when it comes to choosing sleepwear, fabric matters!
Hereās what you need to know before your next pajama purchase:
1. Polyester and acrylic are plastic based fibers.
These synthetic materials are made primarily from petrochemicals. They can trap heat and moisture. Synthetic textiles can also shed microplastic fibers during washing and wear.
2. Cotton is a great place to start.
Cotton is a plant based, breathable fiber that absorbs moisture. If youāre making the switch, look for 100% cotton rather than cotton blended with polyester. GOTS certified organic cotton is the gold standard, but OEKO TEX certified is also good.
3. Modal is not always better.
Modal is made from regenerated cellulose, usually from beechwood. It isnāt a conventional petroleum based synthetic like polyester, and it can be soft and breathable. However, it requires industrial processing, and its environmental impact depends on how itās manufactured. If your goal is to prioritize minimally processed natural fibers, cotton & linenĀ Ā are worth considering first.
4. Read the fabric content, not just the label.
A pajama set marketed as ābamboo,ā āeco friendly,ā or ānaturalā may actually be rayon or viscose made from plant cellulose through chemical processing. Check the fiber composition on the tag rather than relying on marketing language.
You donāt have to replace your entire wardrobe overnight. When itās time to replace a worn out pair, try 100% cotton, linen, or another natural fiber instead of a polyester or acrylic blend.Ā Ā One in, one out!š¤

Have a Toniebox? Hereās how to reduce unnecessary EMF exposure!
We LOVE our @tonies.us (especially at bedtime) and love how easy they make it to turn the Wi-Fi off, but I feel like a lot of people donāt know this trick so I wanted to shareā¤ļø
TONIEBOX 1 (Original)
1. Make sure your Toniesā stories are fully downloaded while connected to WiFi.
2. Remove the Tonie figure from the box.
3. Pinch and hold both ears for about 5 seconds until you hear a sound and the light flashes blue.
4. Pinch and hold either ear for about 3 seconds until the light turns white and you hear the offline mode confirmation.
5. Youāre all set! Your Tonies will work normally without WiFi as long as their content has already been downloaded.
TONIEBOX 2 (Newer Model)
1. Make sure your Toniesā stories are fully downloaded while connected to WiFi.
2. Remove any Tonies or Tonieplay games from the box.
3. Turn the Toniebox upside down and press and hold both ears until the light ring turns white.
4. Squeeze the big ear to activate offline mode. Youāll hear a voice confirmation.
5. Youāre all set! Your Tonies will work normally without WiFi as long as their content has already been downloaded.
Save this for bedtime! š¤ lmk if you try it!

6 Reasons to Shop at Your Local Farmers Market šæ
1. Support local farmers and small businesses! Your dollars stay closer to home and help sustain the families + small businesses behind your food. Buying directly from farmers cuts out many middlemen, which can mean better prices and more money going straight to the people growing your food šš»
2. You can find great organic & sustainably grown produce. Be sure to ask your farmers about their growing practices, not everything is certified organic, but you can find out what they use and look for options with fewer synthetic pesticides. If youāre in Athens, we love @hickoryhillfarmga for organic produce š„ , @caribeunitedfarm for pasture raised eggs š„, and @hamnersfarm for grass-fed meat š„©
3. Itās a GREAT activity for kids! I want them to know their food doesnāt just come from a grocery store shelf. I want them to see how itās grown, meet the farmers who grow it, explore new fruits and vegetables, and understand what real food looks like before it ever makes it to their plate. The more opportunities we give our kids to interact with real food, the more we can help build familiarity, curiosity and a foundation for healthier habits.
4. Fresher, seasonal food. Produce is harvested closer to when itās sold, meaning less time in transit and a chance to enjoy whatās naturally in season.
5. Know where your food comes from. You can talk directly to the person who grew it, ask how it was raised, and learn exactly what youāre bringing home to your family. I love that we have become friends with so many of our local farmers!
6. Real food nourishes your bodyš¤ Whole foods like fresh fruits and vegetables over ultra processed alternatives which means more nutrients & fewer additives in your familyās everyday diet.
if youāre not sure if youāre in town has a farmers market, Google your town + farmers market or type the same thing into your Instagram search bar, and youāll be surprised how many options come up! Do you visit your farmers market? Let me know your favorite part!

Comment SWAP for the links. Here are the top 10 childrenās basics Iām most intentional about buying.
Why? Many childrenās items are made with synthetic polyester and nylon, which are made from petrochemical based fibers. When something is touching their skin for hours every day, Iād rather choose a natural fiber when thereās a good option available.
Itās not realistic to eliminate every synthetic fabric from their lives, and Iām not stressed about the dress up clothes or the occasional fancy outfit.. Iām much more concerned with what touches their skin every single day than what they wear for a few hours here and there. Think underwear, pajamas, socks, sheets, towels, etc.
Small swaps, repeated every day, can add up! So when I can find a better natural fiber option for something we use consistently, thatās where I choose to spend my attention.

If youāre wanting a healthier home in 2026, these are the 3 areas Iād focus on first for the biggest impact because they create daily, repeated exposure.
Write SWAP if youād like the links to my fave products! This isnāt a complete list, but this is where Iād begin if I was starting from scratch & wanted to make the *biggest* difference.
IMPORTANTš¢
This isnāt about fear, itās about awareness. I want to share knowledge to give you options, not anxiety. Over time, even low level exposure adds up, and thatās where small, intentional swaps can make a real difference.

Write SWAP for the info! š¤ Iām not living in a perfectly non-toxic bubble (and I donāt think you need to either). I still occasionally drink coffee out of to-go cups, I wore a 100% polyester dress to an event last weekend, and I still go through the Chick-fil-A drive through. But I also believe in doing better when we know better. Thatās what āLo-Toxā is all about. No need to purge your entire house in one day! Itās about awareness, small shifts, and choosing the better, ālowerā toxic option when you can.
