Simple Lo-Tox weed killer!! Recipe below šš¼
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (a branch of the World Health Organization) classified glyphosate as a Group 2A āprobably carcinogenic to humans.ā For me, if thereās a simple, affordable alternative that works, Iād rather make the swap and reduce unnecessary exposure around my home.
šINGREDIENTS
1 Gallon of white vinegar (30% acidity, you can find this at Home Depot)
1 Cup of table salt or Epsom salt
1 Tablespoon of liquid Dawn dish soap
šHOW TO MAKE:
-Dissolve the salt: Pour the salt into a large container or pump sprayer, add a little of the vinegar, and stir until the salt is completely dissolved.
-Add the rest: Pour in the rest of the vinegar and the Dawn dish soap. Mix well, but do not shake vigorously to avoid excessive suds.
Application: Pour the mixture into a spray bottle or pump sprayer. Coat the foliage and stems of the weeds thoroughly
Try to do this on a day when itās nice and sunny, it will be most effective if it doesnāt rain for a day or two before and after application. You could easily use this with a smaller spray bottle or do the most with a backpack sprayer like my husband lol.

With synthetic bedding, fragranced detergents, off-gassing mattresses, blue light from devices, the exposure level all adds up over time. Iāve spent years researching + swapping out the products in my bedroom and these are my top #LoTox recs!
Some of these are quick and easy swaps like sheets or lightbulbs, others are more of an investment, such as a mattress.
It can be overwhelming to think about swapping everything all at once (it took me literally years to research and swap out most of the products in my bedroom). Donāt stress about overhauling everything all at once, just save this list for later when youāre ready to make a swap!
I like to use what I called the āone in, one outā method. The next time your lightbulb burns out, consider replacing it with an incandescent lightbulb. The next time youāre looking to order a new set of sheets, maybe opt for organic cotton instead of a polyester blend. One in, one out, is easier to manage than a massive overhaul! Write ālove itā for product links ā¤ļøš©µ I love hosting for any occasion, I think itās my love language :) I used to stress, and I mean STRESSSS, about creating a perfectly ācleanā experience for my guests. Iād spend days prepping homemade snacks, making sure everything was organic, gluten-free, dye-free, free-rangeā¦ you name it. Eventually, it started stealing the joy from hosting altogether.
Thankfully, over time, itās almost like I went so far down the rabbit hole that I came out the other side. Iāve learned that one hotdog + a Coke at a party isnāt going to make or break anyoneās wellbeing. We eat clean and organic 90% of the time, so I try not to stress about the āonce in a while.ā I try harder to focus on the gathering and enjoying the people around me instead of being in complete control over every ingredient. Slowing down and enjoying time with others is a part of wellness too.
I still care *deeply* about what we eat, wear, and use but Iām making an effort not to operate from a place of fear or perfectionism. It took years for me to get to this place and it is something I still struggle with from time to time. Anyone know what I mean?! Thatās why itās #LoTox , not non-Tox you know š
