We consider this dairy free in our house because there is no cow's milk or cheese, and small amounts of butter doesn't cause issues for us. This recipe does call for a small amount of butter, but this can be subbed for ghee (ghee may be a good choice for people who are lactose-intolerant, as it contains extremely low levels of lactose and casein (a milk protein)) or coconut oil if you are strictly dairy free.
